Dr Zara Molphy is Research Programmes Manager in RCSI Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology based at Dublin’s and Europe’s busiest maternity hospital, The Rotunda. Zara manages a number of regulated clinical trials in obstetrics and neonatology and delivers a wide range of education, public patient involvement and outreach initiatives funded by both Science Foundation Ireland and the Health Research Board. As co-lead of the SFI funded ‘Debunking The Myths: The Science Behind Our Sexual Health’ programme, she and her talented team of science communicators have been responsible for the design and delivery of expert-led sexual health workshops to over 9,000 teenagers nationwide over the last 2 years. The team are focused on improving teenagers health literacy in the field of sexual and reproductive health, counteracting online misinformation, and removing stigma associated with topics such as anatomy, periods, contraception, STIs and sexual assault. She holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry which was funded by a prestigious studentship from the Irish Research Council and was carried out in DCU.
