Dr Sandra Galvin is the Programme Manager for the Health Research Board – Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB-TMRN) and is responsible for the development, maintenance and expansion of an energetic, adaptive, and innovative support network for the clinical trial community. Sandra has led on creating a number of key collaborations with national organisations to improve and strengthen the conduct of trials in Ireland. As part of her role in the HRB-TMRN, Sandra has developed a Public Engagement activity stream in the network, which endeavours to take the concept of randomised trials to the wider community, including primary school Children. Sandra was co-founder of the START – Schools Teaching Awareness of Randomised Trials (www.STARTcompetition.com) competition, and also a member of The People’s Trial Steering Group. The People’s Trial is an online platform which has allowed the general public to create their own randomised trial, with all key decisions of the trial being made by members of the public (www.thepeoplestrial.ie).
