Mark Pickering is a scientist at the UCD School of Medicine; his work focuses on neuroscience. Mark is an award-winning educator, teaching neuroanatomy to medicine students. Working in close collaboration with Tom Flanagan, Mark has made visual representation a central pillar of his teaching practice. They use 3D printing technology to create educational tools to make the notoriously difficult task of understanding the brain and nervous system more manageable to students. However, this approach works most effectively when the task of creating the models is passed from the educator to the learner.
