Margie is Head of Education and Public Engagement at Science Foundation Ireland. Her role is to support greater engagement and conversation with the Irish public on the science, technology, engineering and maths contributing to society. She is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Ireland, having started her career as a consultant engineer. Margie has designed and led engagement activities from public consultations to the creation of public engagement vehicles such as Engineers Week. She has over 20 years’ experience of delivery and supporting growth in practice and skills in the STEM education and public engagement field. She chairs the Gender Balance in STEM Education (Primary and Post Primary) group for the Department of Education and is an advocate for diversity in STEM. Margie also loves acting, having qualified with a licentiate in stage performance.
