Astrophysicist, Assistant Professor in Science Education, TCD

Biography Dr Joseph Roche is an Astrophysicist and Assistant Professor in Science Education at Trinity College Dublin. He has worked for NASA and observed symbiotic stars using the Hubble Space Telescope. He is based at the School of Education and Science Gallery Dublin. He coordinates the Master in Science Education programme and teaches modules on "Science & Society" and "Communicating Science". He also teaches "Science Education, Communication, and Society" on the undergraduate science course. He was course coordinator of Trinity's Postgraduate Certificate in 21st Century Teaching and Learning from 2014-2018 and is currently the Ph.D. programme coordinator at the School of Education. Joseph leads the Science & Society research group at Trinity College and welcomes queries from prospective Masters and Ph.D. students who are interested in the following topics: informal science education, citizen science, science communication, higher education science, and evaluating public engagement in science.
